Wasabi Polo Team

Review

Wasabi, winners in St. Tropez - by PoloLine & Alejandra Ocampos

Paradise city, St. Tropez, in the Cote d'Azur, in France, hosted a new edition of the International Polo Club, themain tournament of the season, at St. Tropez Polo Club. As always, it was a huge success, that showcased eight teams up to 15 goals.

The 2010 edition had Wasabi as winners, as they defeated locals St. Tropez by 10-6. St. Tropez's lineup featured one change, as the injured Francisco Irastorza was replaced by Fernando Reynot Blanco.

In the first chukker, Temi Willington scored twice to put Wasabi in the lead, 2-0. Fernando Reynot Blanco then closed the gap to one goal and by the time the bell rand, Wasabi was leading 2-1.

Wasabi left St. Tropez scoreless in the second chukker, as it was Temi once again who added two more goals, one field and one 30-yards penalty shot, to secure Karen Brink's team a commanding 4-1 lead.

It was definetly Wasabi's day. After a 60-yards penalty converted by Reynot Blanco for St. Tropez, Wasabi expanded their advantage to 6-2 in the third fram, hrough a 60 yards penalty scored by Temi Willington and a field goal by Pablo Llorente, who scored Wasabi's first goal in the fourth chukka.

With only one goal for St. Tropez, by Corinne Schuler, that fourth chukker belonged to Wasabi, who undoubtedly had taken control of the match. Or should say, it also belonged to Temi Willington, as he was in charge to score the three goals (one field, one penalty from the spot and a 60 yards penalty) to secure Wasabi a 9-3 lead, witn only one chukker to go.

In the last chukker, Fernando Reynot Blanco and Juan Martin García Laborde (2) scored for St. Tropez, but their efforts were not enough. Temi Willington converted a 30 yards penalty shot, to secure Wasabi the final 10-6 win.

Score - Wasabi: 2-1, 4-2, 6-2, 9-3, 10-6
